Petit Trianon - Small
At the end of the Vanderbilt Motor parkway was the elegant Petit Trianon. William K. Vanderbilt Jr. built the inn for his guests to rest after the long road trip from Manhattan. He sent an architect, John Russell Pope, to France to eyeball the original Petit Trianon Chateau and have him incorporate it into his design. The Petit Trianon burned to the ground in 1957.
